March 2019 Ministry Update
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galation 6:9
This has been a verse l repeat often lately. Robert and I are a little weary lately but we also remain excited and focused on what God has for the people in Providence. He has been faithful to direct us and meet our needs. Thank you for those that pray and give and have come to serve on a short term trip.
As a ministry of the C&MA, Envision identifies and develops missional leaders through short-term trips, internships, residencies and ministry opportunities. We would love to welcome some interns and site associates to help carry the burdens and share the Good News, so please spread the word!
Envision Kids Club
Our Kids club continues to meet on Monday evenings at 6:30pm. We have some very committed volunteers and this ministry happens because of them. We are so thankful for the two wonderful people from Faith Alliance in Attleboro, One lovely assistant from Church of Emmanuel in Foxboro, Three fabulous women from Centro Cristiano de Adoracion (right here in Providence), and four from International Alliance church. We are still praying for some of the local neighborhood kids to come and check us out. Please pray that we are able to earn their trust as a new ministry center and connect with these nearby families. We do this ministry to provide a fun, safe place for kids to come while we love them and teach them how to study and memorize the Word of God.
Pray for us as we decide what went well and what did not. What we will continue to do next year and how we can make adjustments as the Lord directs. May we always seek the Lord first in all that we do. His guidance in our ministries is most important and your prayers help us in hearing his voice and sensing the Spirit in our decision making.
We started up our ESL classes at the end of January and we have been thrilled each week to see new students and the connections that are being made. Praise the Lord, we were able to start up with three levels of classes and a fully staffed nursery. Our volunteers are dependable, caring, prepared and excited about what they are doing.
We have even had one student come to a Sunday morning service with his wife after being invited by a fellow student who attends the International Alliance Church. It was a joyful morning to see Lorenzo walk through the door and we praise the Lord for that growing relationship.
Terri Walter and Fresia
As you pray for Envision Providence and take time from your schedules to come serve the people here in our neighborhood, I want to tell you how you make a difference.
During our Grand Opening on Oct 6, we had over 150 people join us. One team cleaned the street and yard in front of Fresia's house on Detroit Ave. Fresia was given a grand opening flyer and decided to come and check us out. She went up to a table manned by two young ladies, Annie Grace and Elaine. Although these two girls didn't know Spanish, they were able to use Google translate to explain the class sign up sheet and our January startup. Fresia came to the open house and was immediately welcomed with a smile and a gentle voice by Terri Walter from Church of Emmanuel. Fresia is one of our students and as you can see, it took the love and involvement of many people to make that possible. You make a difference in our ministry! Thank you!
The exciting part is that this is not the only story like this. We have actually had several students that are a part of this ESL ministry because of the Grand Opening and the people that took time out of their weekend to be in Providence and help us make connections right here in the Elmwood neighborhood.
God is using you in the ministry here at Envision Providence. For your prayers, your time, your financial support, we say Thank you!
Our next ministry is just getting started and we can use your prayers to help us as we have a large project in front of us. We have a community garden going in over the next few months. One generous couple from Cape Cod Bible Alliance has donated a large greenhouse and they have some volunteers planning a trip to Providence this week to help us tear off the asphalt and prepare it for a garden. We are still overwhelmed with all that will need done before Spring. We have a list of people in the city who are waiting for garden space and we are praying that we can get extra hands and feet to help us get everything ready in time for the neighbors to begin gardening soon. Please pray that we will have clear direction and volunteers to make this possible. We feel that a garden is a great way to bring people from the community together so that we can build relationships and share the Good News. Our hope is that we will have families from each of the Alliance churches in Providence take a plot and garden with the purpose of relationship building and sharing Jesus.
